COLOMBIAN AIRFORCE GAVILAN GETS ALL WEATHER RADAR / April 2000 |
In order to operate with greater safety in the tropical weather condition prevalent in Colombia year round, the Colombian Air Force decided to equip its current fleet of four aircraft with RDR 2000 weather radars. Using a leading edge wing mounted radome in order to minimize drag, the radars have been installed and are performing very well. The radome was developed by Gavilan engineers and manufactured at the factory in Bogota. The large panel of the Gavilan 358 provides ampler room for the indicator, and it is easily visible in all light conditions from either one of the front seats.
